Things We Loved This Week #10

In this week’s Things We Loved This Week we share (spoiler alert)…the things we loved! Read on for our pop culture recommendations including a new way to watch Supernatural, teaser trailers that have us hyped, and an animation book round-up we were honored to be part of.

The new Lord of the Rings show teaser. This satisfying video features real molten metal being cast into a ring, and also reveals the full title of the forthcoming Lord of the Rings TV series: “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” We’re ready to move the Misty Mountains themselves to make September come sooner.

Animation books for your 2022 reading list. We were thrilled to see our just-announced Somewhere Out There: My Animated Life by Don Bluth included in Cartoon Brew’s round-up. ICYMI, Somewhere Out There is a memoir from the animation legend behind films like Anastasia, The Secret of NIMH, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Land Before Time, and more. The book chronicles Don’s life including his childhood in Utah, starting to work for—and then dramatically departing—Disney, launching his own animation studio, and beyond.

Revisiting Supernatural, via podcast. One way to ease the blow of missing Supernatural? Go back to the beginning! On January 24, Richard Speight Jr. (the angel Gabriel) and Rob Benedict (God himself) are launching a rewatch podcast called Supernatural Then and Now, and episodes “will feature cast, crew, and producers with stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki kicking off the first two episodes.”

Star Trek brings us back to the Enterprise. In other teaser trailer news, we’re happy to see our old friend Patrick Stewart coming back for a second season of Picard on March 3. Whoopi Goldberg will be aboard, too!
